Shoe Care

The best way to avoid the need for shoe repair is to keep boots and shoes clean.

  • Dirt that works its way into footwear’s material causes it to break down.
  • If boots or shoes do get dirty, clean them with a non-detergent cleaner.
  • Boots that are caked in dirt will lose breathability, making them less comfortable.

It’s also important to try and keep your footwear dry.

  • Water can be damaging, especially to leather materials. A dry shoe or boot is best.
  • Never use a heat source. Today’s boots are made with heat, so re-exposing them to heat causes de-lamination and can melt exposed foam.
  • To dry boots out, leave them at room temperature and try stuffing them with newspaper, replacing it as it gets wet until the shoes are dry.

Finally, there are a number of after-market care products available you can use to treat your shoes and boots, keeping them water resistant and prolonging their life.
