Campers Village pulls bottles containing
Bisphenol-A (BPA) off store shelves.
Edmonton, AB April 22, 2008
In anticipation of Health Canada naming Bisphenol-A or BPA a consumer health risk, we have pulled all polycarbonate and plastic bottles that contain this compound off the store shelves.
Last week the media reported that Health Canada is poised to render its report regarding Bisphenol-A (BPA) and the safety of it when used in plastic products including water bottles. To date, Health Canada has taken the position that products containing BPA pose no health risk to users. However, early indications suggest that Health Canada may change its classification of BPA to a dangerous, toxic substance.
Health Canada’s official report on BPA from is not expected to be released until May. However, in the interest of customer health and safety, the we have chosen to immediately pull all water bottles containing BPA from its shelves and replace these products with BPA-free hydration alternatives, such as stainless steel bottles from Chinook Tec, resin coated aluminum bottles from Sigg Switzerland and BPA free bottles from brands like Camelbak.
Campers Village will accept returns of bottles containing BPA purchased at its stores with a receipt.
