In an effort to respond to the privacy concerns of Canadians, the federal government enacted the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA):
Effective January 1, 2004, PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation for Alberta Personal Information and Protection Act (PIPA) will establish principles for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information in Canada.Campers Village shall identify the purpose for which personal information is collected at or before the time the information is collected.
Personal information is information, recorded or not, about an identifiable individual. It includes:
Name, address, age, weight, height, gender
Employment or financial history
ID numbers, place of birth, ethnic origin
Opinions, evaluations, or comments, about an individual
The definition of personal information does not include business contact information. This covers information usually found on a business card.
The knowledge and consent of our customers is required for the collection, use or disclosure or personal information. (By providing personal information through email or the Campers Village website, our customer’s consent to the proper use of this information is accepted).
The collection of personal information shall be limited to that which is necessary for t he purposes identified by Campers Village. Information shall be collected by fair and lawful means.
Personal information shall not be used for purposes other than those for which it was collected, except with the consent of customer or as required by law. Personal information must be retained only as long as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.
Personal information shall be as accurate, complete, and up to date as is necessary for the purposes for which it is to be used.
Security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information shall protect personal information at all times.
Campers Village shall make readily available to its customer’s specific information about its policies and practices relating to the management of personal information. |
Upon request, a customer will be informed of the existence, use, and disclosure of his/her personal information and shall be given access to that information.
A customer shall be able to address a challenge concerning compliance with the above principles to the designated person(s) accountable for Campers Village’s compliance.
Campers Village’s Collection, Use and Disclosure of your Personal Information
As a result of your purchasing or returning goods, participation in our contests or promotions or visiting our website, Campers Village may have collected some or all of the following personal information from you, including but not limited to: details of your purchase and return history; your name, address and telephone number; email address and/or facsimile number; activity preferences; outdoor club affiliations; credit card information.
Campers Village has a policy that prohibits sharing customer information with anyone outside the Campers Village family.
The personal information identified above may be used by Campers Village to provide products and services as may be requested by you, to inform you about sales or special events or to conducts sales and satisfaction surveys. We also may send you the Campers Village Catalogue or other special interest information updates periodically.
